Geoff Murray

Geoff is a widely recognized aviation and aerospace expert with significant experience in flight operations, training, MRO and aftermarket growth. His expertise has supported Board members and leadership teams at OEMs, suppliers and financial sponsors.
In 2024, Dr. Murray retired from a 20-year career as a Partner at Oliver Wyman where he led the firm’s global aerospace team from 2014 through 2019. He launched the firm’s Flight Operations BRIEF in 2017. Geoff was the first to predict the worldwide pilot shortage in 2021 and continues to closely monitor flight operations trends.
Dr. Murray is an alumnus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s aeronautical engineering program and served as the Chair of the University’s President’s Advisory Board between 2012 and 2017; he currently serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Board. He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University (mathematical optimization) and was a finalist for the George B. Dantzig Dissertation Prize. Dr. Murray began his career at McDonnell Douglas as an original member of the T-45A Goshawk experimental flight test team.
Geoff served as a member of the Board of Directors of three privately-held companies and was a Trustee of the National Aviation Hall of Fame between 2013 and 2023.
Dr. Murray has appeared on CNBC, NPR’s All Things Considered, CNN and Fox News. He is an active airline pilot and flight instructor and holds Airline Transport Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor certificates.
